Baby's Hand

Level 4 Maternity Nurse - Newborn Specialist

What is a Maternity Nurse and what do you offer?

The role of the Maternity Nurse is to fully support the parents practically and emotionally after the birth as late as up to baby's first birthday if the family wishes.

As a newborn specialist, a Maternity Nurse is a great source of help and advice, not only about the development and wellbeing of the baby, but also that of the new parent. Typically I work with families up to their babies being 5 months old, however it is not uncommon for families to request that Maternity nurses stay up until the baby's first birthday.

As a Maternity Nurse, I encourage parents’ involvement and confidence in handling their new baby and promote a positive relationship between other siblings and the new addition. Of course, each family is different and my involvement is decided per individual family.

A Maternity Nurse will help the mother from the time she leaves hospital until both mother and baby are settled into a routine at home. The amount of time a Maternity Nurse is booked for is flexible and will depend on individual circumstances and family preference, some families will only require 2 consecutive weeks other families may require 4 months.

PLEASE NOTE - I only work on a part time, live out basis as I have two children of my own.

I will also offer an "event maternity nurse" option. This is a one off booking for events such as weddings and days out, very much an extra pair of hands, particularly popular with those with older children.

Please note prices are based on the client living a 12 mile radius from Camberley, Surrey. This will include areas of Hampshire and Berkshire too.

Frequently asked questions......

Do you hold a 12 hour paediatric first aid course certificate?

Yes, expires in 2024

How far in advance should I book?

As I only work on a part time basis I recommend booking 3 months in advance for a long term contract, especially if you are asking me to work for you when you have just had your baby. I leave a 3 week gap between placements in case of babies coming before or after their due date.

Short notice bookings are possible because of these gaps between work if you are just needing a short term and few hours I am sure we can work something out. This is a great option for people that hadn't thought of the idea of a maternity nurse and would like an extra pair of hands, support or advice when their baby is in their 2nd,3rd,4th, 5th month.

Do you have any availability?

I have VERY limited availability from now until September 2022. I have some random Mondays available and some evening sessions.

From September 2022, I have 3 days a week available, you can book as little or as many as you like, if you would like to arrange a phone call and request references please do get in touch to secure your space.
